    HOW METHADONE IS USED

When you are taking methadone, strictly follow the prescription. It is not wise to take more doses or for a period longer than recommended.

    0in;" class="MsoNormal">

As a part of the treatment program for drug addiction or detoxification, a special pharmacy or clinic will provide you with methadone.

This drug can be in the form of injection, pills and in a liquid form for oral intake. Keep in mind that you should never inject the oral form of methadone.

When taking the oral tablets, drink a glassful of water with it.

Use a medicine cup or measuring spoon to determine the quantity of liquid so that you get the right quantity. Inquire about the dose-measuring instrument from your pharmacist if you do not have one at home.

The doctor may also advise that your caregiver or family member should give you the medicine. Such a recommendation is done in order to make sure that you take the right quantity of drug.

If you feel that the drug is not working then do not consume more than the recommended amount. If your symptoms do not get better when you are using methadone then speak with your doctor.

In order to benefit from the medicine, it is essential to take methadone on a regular basis.

During the treatment program, which includes methadone, it may so happen that your doctor may prescribe other forms of treatment and/or monitoring.

This drug can make the user develop the habit of taking this drug all the time. When the person discontinues after taking it for a long time then he may suffer from withdrawal symptoms. Without discussing with your doctor, do not discontinue using methadone all of a sudden. It may be necessary to decrease the amount little by little.

Keep methadone away from heat and moisture at room temperature.
